Mary Grace Parent Bealer, Secretary 429 3rd Ave. Harvey, LA 70058 Phone: (504) 341-4534/437-4811W/628-7531CELL FAX: (504) 437-4825 Born October 17, 1951, only child of Lawless Paul (now 93 years old) and Luciana Falcone Parent (deceased), raised and still resides in Harvey, La. She attended St. Rosalie grade school and graduated in 1969 from Immaculata High in Marrero. She has 2 daughters; Christine P. Rudolph and Dawn b. Hemphill, two grandchildren: Ashlen L. Rudolph and Michael A. Hemphill. At a very young age, she began collecting records and still do today. Her father would take her on the bus to Gretna to Territo's Record Shop and Adams Record Shop to buy records to play at home. When she was out with her parents, if there was a jukebox around, and if her daddy had a couple of nickels, she would get to play her favorite songs. As a teenager, she attended all the local teenage dances; Immaculate Conception CYO, VFW on Monroe Street in Gretna, Democratic Hall and Clem's in Westwego. As a young single mother with 2 small children, she took on a second job working on weekends as bartender and/or cocktail waitress at several Westbank dance halls. In 1972, she started working at the Round Table in Gretna, then went to the Robert E. Lee in Marrero, New Silver Eagle, The 1801, and the Flamingo in Terrytown, Mel's Villa, Trumps, and Finally Faye's in Harvey. Then back to Marrero to the Moulin Rouge and the Junkyard. Through the course of over 25 years, she has been around a lot of all kinds of good music and great Westbank musicians. She is proud to be a founding officer of the Westbank Musicians Hall of Fame, Inc. |
